The early years you have with your kids pass by faster than you realise. Do you really want to spend that time stuck in your business doing busywork?
Of course not.
The daily grind, constant meetings, and endless task lists may seem important. But that “busywork” is the biggest thief of your most valuable asset: time with your family. You can’t get that time back.
That’s why I always say that the most important part of parenting is just being there for your children. Giving them attention, love, and affection. Allow them to have a voice that is heard when they speak. Show up for their school events. That is what will make them love you more than any materialistic items you can get them.
If you’re a dad reading this, or intend to be a father in the future, let your kids see the real you. The actual you. Not just the disciplinarian, not just the provider. Show them the side of you that your friends see and know. The kindness, the understanding, the creativity, the laughter. The person who shows up for people. That’s part of parenting too.
Our kids don’t just learn from what we tell them. They learn from who we are. Let them see the good stuff
