The McDan Widows Support Program

The McDan Widows Support Program

Across every corner of our nation, we consistently see widows face discrimination, harmful traditions, disinheritance, and a loss of income, status, and basic needs after losing their partners. Without the necessary support, many find themselves in a cycle of poverty, struggling to care for their children. Despite their immense challenges, too many widows remain invisible in current aid and development programs.

This is why, for all of us #McDanFoundation, we recognise the struggles faced by widows and are committed to amplifying their voices and experiences, advocating for the compassionate support they truly need. So, this year, in honour of International Women’s Day [March 8], we are privileged to host our annual Widows Support Program at Mantse Agbonaa Park in James Town, British Accra.

We’re pretty excited because this initiative will provide care and support to 7000 widows, enabling them to lead dignified and healthy lives in which they can afford essential goods such as food, nutrition, and access to medical care.
